YOUNGSTERS at a Market Rasen school could be set to grab the headlines after signing up for Dragons' Den entrepreneur Peter Jones' new enterprise competition.
Trading has kicked off in more than 50 schools across the country as teams compete in his nationwide Tycoon In Schools challenge to inspire Britain's young people to start their own businesses.
Team CCRH from De Aston School was selected to receive funding, based on their business proposal submitted last month.
Participating teams, made up of pupils between the ages of 11 and 18, will now compete against one other to make as much profit from their original capital as possible – with the most profitable team being crowned the Ultimate Tycoon In Schools.
To kickstart their business, the students are given a loan and challenged to launch the business.
Year 10 students Hadley Stones, Ciara Dodd, Ross Tyson and Chloe Greig make up team CCRH – named after their initials – and impressed Peter Jones with their business idea. The team is offering an alternative to what they describe as "boring" school portraits, with their personal photo service.
Appealing to students wanting a shot with friends, and families looking for something a bit different, they are also planning a range of printable T-shirts, mugs, and other personalised goods just in time for the Christmas market.
Daniel Willars, business studies teacher and head of vocational learning and careers, who entered the team into the competition, said: "Tycoon In Schools is a fantastic opportunity for the students.
"It offers a chance to bring the real business world into the classroom."
Students are already wearing their exclusive Tycoon In Schools lapel badges with pride and local people are being asked to help the students achieve their targets.
