And the 22-year-old speedster admits he had offers from league clubs this summer.
"I've had some interest and been down to some other clubs," he told the Grimsby Telegraph.
"I could have stayed at Macclesfield as well but they're obviously struggling at the moment.
"There have been a few league clubs but nothing took my eye to be honest.
"Grimsby made their interest known pretty early on, and I weighed it up with my family and my girlfriend.
"We all agreed it was the right time to come and test myself here – to see if I can push on as an individual and help the team progress as well."
