AROUND 300 mourners packed into Grimsby Minster to say farewell to June Parry, better known as "The Lady from Aramis" at The House of Fraser. She was an ambassador for the perfume manufacturer and was described as "part of Grimsby." Reverend Steve Holt conducted the service which included poems and stories about her career. A shrine was set out in the perfume section of the department store and included love heart earrings, a tiara, a pink feather boa and photographs and messages from customers and colleagues. Joanne McLoughlin, store manager at House of Fraser Grimsby, said: "We are deeply saddened by the news and our thoughts are with June's family, friends and colleagues. June Parry was extremely passionate and dedicated to her work and the wider community, with 38 years' service at House of Fraser Grimsby. June will be sorely missed by both her colleagues and regular customers." She had worked for the firm for 38 years. former collague, Roberta Tonge said : "She was part of Grimsby. She was a beautiful and inspiring lady. Everyone loved her." In an interview with the Grimsby Telegraph in 2006, she said she was still loving every minute of it just as much as she did in the summer of 1976 when she opened the Aramis counter at what was then Grimsby's Binns store.

"The customers become your friends," she said.

In 1992, June, who had also worked in Bloomingdale's, New York, and in Harrods, became an Aramis ambassador through her astonishing sales results and was described by Estee Lauder Companies as "probably the most well-known person in this company".

A full tribute to June will appear in your Grimsby Telegraph soon.
