THE funeral of 15-year-old Koen Allwood took place this morning.
Hundreds of people, including many of his school friends, filled St Mary's Church in Barton for the service which started at 10.30am.
Baysgarth School pupil Koen died on November 13 after he was hit by a car while crossing a road in the town.
Father David Rowett led the 45-minute service.
He said: "The shock of pain and loss can't be set aside by even the most comforting of words. This has left a terrible rip in the family life. He should have been part of our lives for many years yet and the pain pierces our hearts."
Koen's uncle, Marc Allenby, read a tribute from the family, including a personal message from the teenager's mother, Lizzie.
Readings were done by three of Koen's school friends and two of his school friends played guitars in a tribute. Soup was also served to mourners.
Music from the computer game Halo was played as people entered and left the church.
The service was followed by a private internment.
