"LEARN from your past and look to a brilliant future."
That was the inspirational message from the headteacher of Louth's Cordeaux Academy, Peter Kubicki, at the school's first prizegiving since becoming an academy.
Pupils were applauded for their outstanding achievements by guests at the ceremony led by the leader of East Lindsey District Council, Councillor Doreen Stephenson. She was joined by Lincolnshire's Assistant Chief Constable, Lee Freeman, and chairman of governors Ian Keyes.
Mr Kubicki said he was delighted the school became part of the Academies Enterprise Trust in January this year.
"The vision of the trust is making the best better," he said.
"Today is all about celebrating the achievements of the pupils.
"There is a tendency to look to the past but at Cordeaux we learn from the past but also importantly look to a brilliant future.
"We can demonstrate that by celebrating the best exam results two years in a row."
He said he was proud to have received a letter from the Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg.
As reported, Mr Clegg commended Cordeaux Academy as being one of the most outstanding schools in the country for the results of disadvantaged pupils receiving the pupil premium.
Mr Kubicki invited the audience to remember former pupil Nicole Williams, who died last year after a long and brave battle against cancer.
Mr Keyes praised the pupils and encouraged them to continue their "learning journey".
A vote of thanks was given by Abigail Beaney, who presented Councillor Stephenson with a bouquet.
