DRUNKEN antics at the police station while trying to make a complaint landed a man in hot water, Grimsby magistrates heard.
David Ibbotson, 30, of Brereton Avenue, Cleethorpes, admitted being drunk and disorderly on August 28 and breaching an 8pm to 6am curfew on August 20 and 22.
Nick Wyman, prosecuting, said Ibbotson went to Grimsby police station to claim he had been assaulted, but officers could not understand what he was saying.
He was told to sober up and come back but loitered around outside, went back and made a nuisance of himself and became abusive.
Gary Bulbeck, mitigating, said Ibbotson had been drinking heavily and wanted to make a statement to back up an earlier complaint about being assaulted.
He became frustrated that the police would not take a statement from him because he was drunk and shouted: "I have come here for help." He went to apologise after sobering up.
Unemployed Ibbotson was given a six-month conditional discharge and must pay £85 costs and a Government-imposed £15 victims' surcharge. He was fined £40 with £75 costs for the curfew breaches. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter
