CLUB professional Paul Davies hopes the Fast Track To Course scheme will help inspire a new wave of young golfers at Cleethorpes Golf Club.
The initiative, which teaches basic concepts of the sport to juniors – while they get out and walk the fairways – has been created to bring more members into the club.
Priced at £45 for eight, one-hour sessions, keen golfers are shown the ropes by Davies and his colleague, Robin Goodway.
While they are taught how to play the game, the youngsters are also instructed on course management, etiquette and golfing rules.
At any point during the course, or indeed afterwards, the juniors can then join up for a full two-year membership at CGC, for a further £160.
Davies told the Telegraph: "Our aim is to get juniors actually on the course a lot quicker.
"Rather than being practice ground-based, the lessons are more course based. Hopefully that will get them involved at the club. It's all about how we have restructured it. We have run junior lessons in the past, but those players haven't, by and large, ended up joining Cleethorpes.
"Our idea is that, by doing things specifically on the course, we can inspire them – and the club are backing that up with discounted membership.
"We are probably the most pro-active club for junior golf in the area. We've got the Golf Mark award, which proves our commitment to safety and the development of juniors."
With a wealth of experience between them, Davies and Goodway are calling on keen locals to get involved by calling (01472) 816110.
