WHILE your readers' photographs are always of a very good quality, I was, however, a little distressed to see the recent picture of a robin feeding from a net of fat balls.
As a bird lover, and one who has always had them myself, I know that fat balls should never be left in nylon mesh for birds to feed on, but transferred into a suitable hanging container. This is because small birds, such as robins, can easily catch their legs in the nylon mesh, in some cases even breaking them if they become entangled.
