The council have announced improvements to a busy junction near the A16. North East Lincolnshire Council (NELC), working in partnership with Cofely, will see the widening of the A1098 near Peaks Top Farm to create a filter lane for vehicles turning into Hewitt's Avenue towards New Waltham. Work is due to start on Monday, February 9 and will take about three weeks to complete. The slip road into Hewitt's Avenue will be closed for the duration of the works. Advanced warning signs have been put up and a local diversion will be in place. Councillor David Watson, portfolio holder for Environment and Housing at NELC, said: "Widening the road at this junction will create more space for vehicles turning into Hewitt's Avenue and result in shorter queues, less congestion and better traffic flow. "The works are being managed on behalf of the council by Cofely and we'd like to apologise in advance for any disruption caused. "Investing in our infrastructure has benefits for the whole borough – it helps keep our road network safe and moving."
