YMCA HUMBER's flagship fundraising event, Sleep Easy, returns to North Lincolnshire for 2015 in a brand new town and venue.
The mammoth charity sleep-out will be held at the Hawthorns, home of Brigg Town FC, in the North Lincolnshire town on Friday 30th January between 6pm and 6am.
Participants are invited to sleep-out for one night inside the club's stadium and pledge to raise money for YMCA Humber and other partner charities in the area, so that they can continue their work with homeless young people.
Last year's event in Scunthorpe raised over £3,500 for YMCA Humber and their partners at the Lighthouse Project and organisers are hopeful that this year's event can be equally as successful.
Jonathan Byrne, Communications Coordinator for YMCA Humber spoke of his delight at seeing the region-wide fundraiser, which also has events this year in Grimsby, Hull and Beverley, come to Brigg.
He said: "Traditionally we have held Sleep Easy every two years in North Lincolnshire but, after the success of our 2014 campaign, one of our long-term fundraisers stepped forward and said that they would like to run the event.
"It shows the community spirit and like-mindedness of our Sleep Easy fundraisers that they not only want to take part in an event to help homeless charities but also run one of the sleep-outs themselves.
"And that led to Brigg Town hosting Sleep Easy 2015, which means we are holding an event in Brigg for the first time.
"Sleep Easy continues to grow year-on-year and we are absolutely overwhelmed at the response from the general public – the funds raised are so vitally important for YMCA and its partner charities to be able to continue their work with vulnerable young people."
Lead organiser for the Brigg event is Simon Fox, who has taken part in Sleep Easy for each of the previous four years.
He said: "I have taken part in Sleep Easy every year since it first occurred in Grimsby in 2011.
"I knew there was unlikely to be a North Lincolnshire event this year but I know how vital the work homeless charities is with vulnerable young people, especially at this time of year, so I approached YMCA about hosting the event in Brigg.
"We're very grateful to Brigg Town for hosting the event and hopefully we can get plenty of fundraisers there on the night to spend one night sleeping rough to help others who are less fortunate."
