AN EX-SAS officer and bodyguard to A-list stars including Russell Crowe and Brad and Angelina has started a new career – as the owner of a kids' play barn in the Grimsby area.

Matthew Robbens has given up a fast-paced glitzy life of global travel and red carpets guarding the lives of the rich and famous to come back to his roots and his family and open up a soft play centre.

The £150,000 investment has created six jobs at The Play Factory – which has been specially designed to make sure your little one is just as safe in his hands as the Jolie-Pitt children were. Matthew spent five years as a trusted member of Brad and Angelina's security team, rising through the ranks to their number one.

He accompanied them across the globe and even received an e-mail of congratulations on the birth of his youngest son last year. Matthew has also looked after Nicole Kidman, tragic L'Wren Scott, Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer and Daniel Day-Lewis to name just a few, and used his military expertise to teach the world's top actors how to make their roles as snipers and servicemen and women appear more realistic.

They were skills he learnt during a 20-year career in the Armed Forces – including the Special Forces – where he fought in some of the world's most dangerous war zones – including during the capture and detainment of former dictator Saddam Hussein on the outskirts of Baghdad in 2003.

Matthew treasurers a photo of him sitting in the dictator's throne.
