News that one of the stars of Skint has been offered a job on the back of his recovery has been met with positive reaction.

As reported, ex-drug addict John Burr was featured in the last programme of the series, set in Grimsby. He was filmed showing off his skills as an in-line skater.

David Biddles has since, through the Grimsby Telegraph, offered the 33-year-old a job at Louth recycling company Luxus Ltd.

John, of Stanley Street, temporarily worked on the docks before being forced to quit having suffered ankle and shoulder injuries following a skating accident.

But he is now ready to take up a full-time position.

Commenting on our website, Leigh8463 said: "Good on the employer for offering him an opportunity – take it with both hands and it can inspire others to get on the right track."

BullringBoy82 said: "To be fair to the guy, out of all the people shown on that show, he was the only one who came across as if he wanted to better himself.

"It was nice to show someone in a much more positive light and I wish him every success for the future."

More praise came from website commenter IDontCare, who added: "This bloke has turned his life around."

Phantomposter said: "Good luck fella, you've done the hardest part, make a go of it and get your life back on track. Best wishes for the future."

Gyjudge added: "Hope it works out for this lad he now got his chance so take it John – good luck lad."

GYApe said: "Great news ! I know John from being a small lad he's faced all sorts of troubles in his life and seems to be at the end of the tunnel now.

"He was a grafter as a boy always willing to help people out. It's good to see his karma balancing itself out."

Meanwhile, on our Facebook page, Jason Fox said: "I did find John very likeable, he's a guy that certainly knows where he's been, he knows it was wrong but his drug addiction just took hold of him.

"You could tell he genuinely wanted to turn his life around and now he knows where he wants to be in life.

"And it's great that somebody out there has recognised this and offered him a job! Good luck all round. I wish him all the best."

Dean Speight added: "So something positive has come out of Skint then it seems."

Mr Biddles added that he had arranged for John to be given a lift to Louth and brought back again in a bid to solve any transport problems.

He said he had worked in other places, such as Stoke, Cambridge and Mansfield, but was impressed with the people of Grimsby.

A Channel 4 spokesman said it would be an "amazing story" if John could take up the job and turn his life around further.

"It sounds brilliant," he said. "The guy is inspirational and very likeable."
