BOARDED up shops, litter-strewn streets, and cars on bricks is the way Sacha Baron Cohen's new film Grimsby portrays our town, it has been claimed.
A Grimsby businessman was in London in July when he heard the news that Ali G, Bruno and Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen was shooting a film in Tilbury, just 20 minutes away, about his beloved home town.
Curious to find out more, he set off to investigate the open set to see for himself Hollywood's version of Grimsby.
"It was not what I expected. They made Grimsby out to be a terrible and dirty place to live, it's not on," he said.
He spent a few hours on the set watching as the crew threw bags of litter on streets while extras strolled around with dogs on chains and cans of lager in their hands, and taking these pictures.
Many of the shops were turned into faux Grimsby landmarks, notable examples being Happy Cod Fish 'n' Chips, China Dragon Grimsby and Humberside Mini- Van Hire.
Houses were shown to have broken windows and fly dirty England flags, while gardens were filled with broken down furniture and children's toys.
The businessman even found himself caught up in the middle of a fight scene where his sharp suit stood out against the more "casual" dress of the extras. View our extensive gallery of pictures showing Grimsby film locations in Tilbury and see what YOU think
