There have been reports of fighting in both Grimsby and Cleethorpes Tesco stores, with bargain hunters said to be coming to blows over cut-price TVs and other goods in the Black Friday sales.

Humberside Police said they were aware of altercations, but that they had been resolved with no involvement from officers.

Twitter user James Damm posted "Well Black Friday at the Tesco in Cleethorpes was carnage. Scrapping over TVs I'm shocked #skint wasn't filming it." Simon Stephenson posted "Crazy scenes in Tesco Cleethorpes. Fights breaking out!!And that's not the Telly queue!!"

Another shopper, queuing to get into Asda Grimsby this morning, said he had also heard reports of scraps over TVs at the Grimsby store.

Emerging from the store with his bargain finds was Robert McCandless, of Grimsby, 35, who said he had been queuing since 6.30am.

He bought a Samsung Galaxy Note tablet for £149 down from £249 and a Russell Hobbs microwave for £35, down from £49.96

Mr McCandless said: "They are staggering letting people in. It's very calm and very well organised inside."He said he had been among the shoppers checking out the deals last year, but said this year had been far busier..

Marlene Gallagher, 58, of Cleethorpes, was one of the lucky ones to grab a 40" Polaroid TV for £139, down from £219, having got in the queue at 6am.

She said: "It's a bit of a laugh isn't it?

"There's no pushing inside. It's very calm.

"They were handing out Quality Street to the people in the queue, which was a nice touch. I would rather have had a cup of tea though!

"It was all worth it, but I think I may have broken my back lifting the TV!"

Ramsdens on Cleethorpe Road in Grimsby has also experienced a boom in sales this morning.

Store managing director Dave Christy said Black Friday had been a success.

He said: "We have not had hundreds of people queuing outside like at the supermarkets but we have had lots of people coming in and not only looking at our Black Friday deals, but also our other stock.

"This is the first time we have done Black Friday and the reason why I think it's bigger this year is because a lot of retailers have realised the potential of it.

"It has been very successful and we look forward to doing something bigger and better next year."

Keep checking back for updates.
