MANAGER and super substitute Daryl Clare believes his late equaliser at Teversal has earned Louth Town a "valuable point" amid the team's drive for promotion.
The former Grimsby Town striker netted in the 88th minute as Louth came from two goals down to draw.
The White Wolves – sixth in the Northern Counties East League Division One – are still firmly in the promotion-chasing pack, just two points off Cleethorpes Town in second spot.
Boss Clare, pictured below, said: "Given the slow start we made, I'm sure – come the end of the season – that a point on the road at Teversal will prove valuable.
"We piled on the pressure in the second half, hitting the woodwork three times.
"We count ourselves unfortunate not to have won the game.
"It has been an excellent seven days in terms of results."
Louth are now unbeaten in three games. Their 2-1 home win against Clipstone Welfare was backed up with a 3-0 midweek triumph at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic.
Teversal, just two points behind Louth, were expected to provide a tough test away from home on Saturday.
And they duly proved to be tricky rivals when they raced into a two-goal lead inside 22 minutes.
Oliver Wood netted a quick-fire double for the hosts, but was then forced off with a hamstring injury.
Louth capitalised on that blow for Teversal by pulling a goal back, through Matt Kennedy's impressive lob, on 24 minutes.
Boss Clare replaced Rocky Rawlings on 55 minutes as Louth battled for an equaliser.
They went close when man-of-the-match Jack Wightwick struck the post after good work from Kennedy.
Teversal, not enjoying Louth's pressure, tried to hit back – and forced goalkeeper Ian MacTaggart into a super save.
But chances continued to be created by Louth and, with two minutes to go, they finally equalised.
After a flurry of corners, Clare bundled home a deserved leveller.
