ORGANISERS of the Cleethorpes Air Show have committed to return to the resort next year following the bumper event last weekend.
More than 200,000 people enjoyed the scorching weather and action-packed displays at Cleethorpes Air Show – and plans are already in place for next year's event.
Organisers say they were "thrilled" with the turnout and are now looking forward to staging another two-day air show in 2015.
Bob Callison, who is on the Cleethorpes Air Show organising committee, said the aim was to make the next event even more successful – with plans to bring more businesses on board at the top of the team's to-do list.
He said: "The future certainly looks good for the air show. We were very pleased with how it went this weekend and we are now looking forward to 2015.
"We will have a debriefing within the next week with our sponsors, and then all our efforts will be completely focused on next year's event, which will hopefully be even bigger and better."
Tens of thousands of people swooped into the resort over the weekend to enjoy the winning combination of action-packed aerial displays and ground-based attractions.
Cleethorpes traders were also full of praise for the event, which Bob says proved a "big boost" to the local economy.
He added: "We were very fortunate with the weather this year, although that caused a couple of medical issues with people suffering from the heat and becoming dehydrated – but they were all well looked after by our medical staff.
"The crowds were tremendous and very well behaved. There were no incidents to report of, just a couple of lost children who were soon found. We believe there were in excess of 200,000 people there, which is more than last year.
"But we will study some of the photographs taken by the Red Arrows and Red Devils and try to get a more accurate picture.
"The event put a huge amount back into the local economy.
"As a company, we now need to look forward and try to work with as many new sponsors and traders as we can, along with North East Lincolnshire Council. We are a not-for-profit company so any money we make goes straight back into plans for next year."
