A MAN ignored a child abduction notice and continued seeing a vulnerable 16-year-old girl – despite being jailed for a similar matter.

Stuart Webster, 31, of Ainslie Street, Grimsby, admitted helping a girl run away from a responsible person on July 2.

Rebecca Dolby, prosecuting, told Grimsby Magistrates' Court the girl was in local authority care but had been in a relationship with Webster.

The authority reported its concerns about the relationship to the police and a child abduction notice was given to Webster on July 1. The girl was with him at the time. She went missing later that day and was found at his home the next day.

Webster later told police she went to his home of her own free will and that he let her stay. She was pregnant and he was not going to ask her to leave.

Michael Culshaw, mitigating, said Webster had been jailed for 14 weeks on June 16 after a similar offence involving another girl.

He had been remanded in custody since July 4, when he was taken "kicking and screaming" to the cells.

"He doesn't want to see her again," added Mr Culshaw. "There have been no letters from her since he has been in custody.

"He is not interested. There has been absolutely no contact with the girl."

Webster was jailed for 16 weeks.
