Grimsby magistrates have dealt with two prolific shoplifters repsonsible for stealing food from local supermarkets.
Anton Barnes, 29, of Albion House, Grimsby, admitted stealing 12 bags of Maltesers, valued at £14.28, belonging to Tesco on February 22, and failing to surrender to custody at Grimsby And Cleethorpes Magistrates court on June 6. He also admitted stealing shampoo, valued at £28.14, belonging to Wilkinson's on March 16, 2014 while subject to a three-month conditional discharge imposed by Grimsby And Cleethorpes Magistrates Court for theft on February 24; stealing cheese and meat, valued at £23.79, belonging to CJ Supermarket on March 25; stealing food and drink valued at £4.50, belonging to Apex Stores on March 22; stealing cheese, valued at £10.76, belonging to McColls on April 1 and stealing chocolate belonging to Poundstretcher on April 3; failing to comply with a community order made by Grimsby Magistrates on January 23. Original offences: stealing confectionery, belonging to Pound Stretcher on January 23, 2014; stealing a Nivea set, value £9.99, belonging to Savers on January 7; stealing chocolate, valued at £14, belonging to Poundland; stealing cooked ham, valued at 8, belonging to McColls on December 27, 2013. He also admitted stealing cheese, valued at £217, belonging to Tesco on April 16; staling cheese, valued at £152.60, belonging to Tesco on April 10 and failing to follow-up assessment at Drugs Intervention Programme on April 29. He was committed to prison for 16 weeks.
Marc Bennison, 32, of Albion House, Grimsby, admitted stealing seven packs of steak, valued at £66, belonging to Marks & Spencers, on June 14, while subject to a suspended sentence order made by Grimsby And Cleethorpes Magistrates on June 13. Original offences: stealing food, valued at £1.10 belonging to Sainsbury's on June 12; stealing food, valued at £5, belonging to Pound Stretcher on May 28; stealing bacon, valued at £12, belonging to Sainsbury's on May 5; stealing food, valued at £70, belonging to Sainsbury's on April 8; damaging food, valued at £100 belonging to Sainsbury's on April 10; stealing bacon, valued at £28, belonging to Sainsbury's on April 10; stealing washing gel and tortilla chips, valued at £26.60 belonging to Tesco on May 3; and failing to surrender to custody at Grimsby And Cleethorpes Magistrates Court on May 7. He was sent to prison for 14 weeks.
