A £35 million runway rebuild has led to the cancellation of next year's Waddington Air Show.
The work will extend Waddington's 9,000ft runway by 528 ft and increase its operational life by 25 years.
Aircraft will be forced to operate from other bases during the work, even though they will still be controlled from Waddington.
A large amount of construction machinery and workers will be at the site to complete the work.
The 59 week project is due to start in September this year meaning there will be no air show in July 2015.
Wing Commander Jim Beldon said: "The runway at RAF Waddington needs major refurbishment.
"We expect the work will take around 59 weeks and that will eventually take us up to and beyond the 2015 air show.
"Unfortunately, therefore, it was decided that the Waddington Air Show 2015 has to be cancelled."
Meanwhile, there will be no tickets available on the gates on either day of the 2014 show this weekend.
Tickets are available from HSBC and Morrisons in Lincoln until the close of play tomorrow.
