FRENCH residents are queuing up to come to Caistor.

Caistor Twinning Association hosted a visit from French town Savigne L'Eveque and it proved so popular that lots had to be drawn to decide who would be able to come.

The visit was hosted by chairman of Caistor Twinning, Jan Lyus, and her committee, who arranged a programme of functions in the town and visits further afield.

On arrival, the French visitors were welcomed at a Bucks Fizz reception in the Town Hall, at which children from the town's primary school entertained.

At another event the group were presented with a cake made by Emma Shardlow, the cafe manager at Caistor Arts and Heritage Centre.

Savigne marathon runner Gerard Lenoir went for a run with the town's running club and was made an honorary member, as the 100th runner to join the club since its formation two years ago.

He also received a club vest that he pledged to take back to France and wear with pride for events there.

The visitors were taken on a coach trip to Leeds Armouries, to Gainsborough Old Hall and to Uncle Henry's Farm Shop at Kirton Lindsey.

Sandrine Budereao, chairman of Savigne L'Eveque Twinning Association was delighted at the reception given by the host association.

She said: "People in Caistor are so friendly and it is a great pleasure to be here.

"Eight new families are in the party this time.We have too many people who want to come, that is why we draw lots and the reason is that Caistor is such a lovely town.

"I first came in 1989 with my parents and I am delighted to be back again. Thank you to everyone."
