An employee raised the alarm after a fire broke out at a shop in Grimsby this evening (Friday).
Two fire crews from Cromwell Road raced to the scene in Cartergate at around 6pm tonight.
The blaze was started by an electrical fault in a consumer unit and fire crews confirmed there was no smoke alarm in the shop.
Suren Kumar, 25, called 999 after noticing smoke coming out of the unit behind the counter.
"I smelled burning and smoke started coming out of the unit," he said.
"There was so much smoke, not so much fire, just lots of smoke, it was quite frightening."
