Four people have been injured in a multiple vehicle road traffic collision which caused delays for motorists travelling to tonight's Grimsby Town v Scunthorpe United replay.
Humberside Police confirmed the accident happened on the M181 northbound, close to Glanford Park this evening, and both lanes were blocked, although one reopened just before the 7.45pm kick-off, which went ahead on time despite the delays.
The incident happened at 6.45pm.
A police spokeswoman said: "Football supporters heading to the football match at Glanford Park should be aware that the road is blocked and tailbacks are around two miles long.
"This could result in delays getting into Scunthorpe."
Reports suggest either three or four vehicles were involved.
Police have now confirmed that four people have been taken to Scunthorpe General Hospital.
Several motorists abandoned their vehicles, and an announcement was made 20 minutes into the match asking them to return to them.
