A FASHION designer from Grimsby sweetened up London Fashion Week with a dress made from 1,000 Cadbury wrappers.
Terri-Leigh Finnegan, 23, who compares her designs to those of Vivienne Westwood, caused a media frenzy with her Wrapper Dress model parading around Somerset House courtyard.
Terri-Leigh moved to London five years ago and was approached by the chocolate company to create and showcase a dress of her own.
The Sixties-inspired attire took 20 hours to make and the look is completed with a real chocolate clutch made from 65 Cadbury Dairy Milk miniatures.
Terri-Leigh, pictured, who attended Littlecoates Primary School, said: "I launched my own label – Why So Serious? – in February, so when Cadbury asked if I could work with them, I thought it would be ideal to promote my brand.
"It was a solo project with the help of an intern. The wrappers are stuck to plastic with an underskirt.
"I researched the trends for autumn/winter 2013 and purple is very much in ... which helped!
"I have never used a media like this and the clutch bag was beginning to get a little soft!"
As soon as her model, Alanna, stepped out in the public, she caused a frenzy.
Terri-Leigh said: "The dress stood out and was definitely different. Most of the models were wearing black and mine was purple and shimmery.
"Photographers were following Alanna around the courtyard.
"I took my business cards with me but I ran out; I have never run out before!
"It was an amazing feeling and I began to shake with adrenaline because it was so exciting.
"People loved it and it was so much fun."
Terri-Leigh, who studied fashion design
with marketing at University Of East London, chose the model with the chocolate brand.
She added: "We wanted a model who had a girl next door look to suit the innocent, family brand.
"We didn't want an edgy look too, and her hair is a nice choc olate colour."
She describes her own label as "luxurious".
Terri-Leigh said: "In the future I'd love to be alongside Vivienne Westwood and have my designs on the catwalk.
"It's a luxuries label, but I realise that people can't spend £600 on an item."
Terri-Leigh's family still live in Grimsby and she will be visiting next month.
"With being so busy it's hard to get back home," she said.
"But I always enjoy coming back to see everyone."
