CLEETHORPES 2nds won their first Lincolnshire County Cricket League game of the season, but are still rooted to the bottom of the Premier Division table.
The Meggies defeated second-placed Alkborough by two wickets at Chichester Road.
And David Mansfield played key roles in the field and at the crease, as Cleethorpes chased down the 193 for nine set by the visitors.
Vaidik Kishan Raj scored 50 before he was run out by Mansfield, who did likewise to the next man in, Graham Wilson.
Stuart Harvey enjoyed a fine day with the ball for Cleethorpes, claiming five for 63 in 17 overs.
Mansfield – batting in the middle order – then led the way with an unbeaten 59, seeing his side home with nine balls to spare.
Market Rasen's derby win at Caistor Town amply demonstrates that catches really do win matches.
Caistor decided to bat first at Brigg Road, but could muster only 92 – the hosts were dismissed with four of the permitted 50 overs still to be bowled.
Eight of the wickets to fall were claimed by catches, the others being a solitary stumping and an lbw.
Rasen skipper Matt Rutherford finished with four for 37, but the best figures came from Gary Bierlein, who sent down his allowance of 17 overs to return four for 16, with 11 maidens among them.
The only Caistor batsman to enjoy any success out in the middle was Harry Boulton, who scored 43.
Rasen then pieced together a half-century opening stand before George Fussey saw them home with an undefeated 27.
Meanwhile, Alford & District suffered an eight-wicket reverse at Cherry Willingham, while Barton Town took a superb win at league leaders Messingham.
Reigning champions Scunthorpe Town kept up the pressure at the top with a sound victory at home to lowly Nettleham.
On Sunday, in the George Marshall Trophy, Messingham and Nettleham reached the final with last four victories over Scunthorpe Town and Bracebridge Heath respectively.
In Division One, Holton-le-Clay fell to a single-wicket defeat on their visit to Hirst Priory, where Outcasts were the winners.
Outcasts' Graeme Fletcher grabbed six for 36 as the visitors were dismissed for 120, of which Josh Plaskitt and Rich Griffin both contributed 37.
Outcasts were steered home by middle-order man Graham Clark (27 not out) as Danny Portus claimed four for 29.
Sam Atkin cracked a superb, undefeated 143 for Owmby – only to finish on the losing side against leaders Broughton.
Scunthorpe Town 2nds defeated Louth 2nds, while Scothern came out on top in a high-scoring clash with Horncastle.
In Division Two, Keelby tested runaway leaders Haxey 2nds before suffering a 35-run home defeat.
Visiting Haxey decided to bat first and set their stall out with an impressive 247 for seven, owing much to an opening partnership of 111 between Jon Stanser (78) and skipper Jeremy Evans (42).
Keelby captain Danny Bevis showed his side the way, scoring 75 at the top of the order, while Sean Campbell added 52.
However, the daunting target proved too much and the home team eventually succumbed for 212.
Despite two half-centuries and a five-wicket haul, Caistor Town 2nds were beaten when they visited Hartsholme 2nds.
Hartsholme made 242 for nine, as Henry Gillott claimed five for 55.
Caistor's response of 169 for nine was dominated by 68 from Mark Gowshall and an unbeaten 55 by Ryan Farrow – the only batsmen to reach double figures.
Alkborough 2nds overcame Hibaldstow in the section's other fixture.
In Division Three, former club skipper Richard Birch came out of retirement to take four for 30 and help his side win against Grimsby side Laportes.
Put in to bat, Barton posted 180 for four, Regs Koen leading the way with an unbeaten 87 and Alex Shreeve scoring 54, Mick Hanson claiming three for 34 in 15 overs.
Laportes were then bowled out for 138 in the 41st over – all-rounder Hanson scoring 31.
South Kelsey were beaten by 74 runs on their visit to Old Lincolnians, but points-wise Kelsey are still comfortably clear of the relegation zone.
Steadily improving Outcasts 2nds, enjoyed another emphatic win – this time by 118 runs on their trip to lowly Broughton 2nds.
Caistor Town 3rds, who lost by five wickets, on their visit to Market Rasen 2nds suffered from a lack of runs in their derby visit.
In 45 overs, the visitors could only post 129 for five, which included 37 from opener David Gowshall.
Rasen were steered to victory by a good sixth-wicket stand between Charlie Scales (50 not out) and Andrew Richley (38 not out).
Meanwhile, Alford & District 2nds beat second-placed Washingborough.
In Division Four, wicket-keeper Andy Sharp scored his maiden century as Keelby 2nds won by eight runs on their visit to Normanby Park.
He made 101 of Keelby's all-out 190, as Jacob Render claimed six for 43.
Normanby were then bowled out for 182 in the 42nd over, Zach Meadows making 69 and Sam O'Callaghan grabbing five for 49.
Two individual performances stood out for Cleethorpes 4ths as they won their home match with Holton-le-Clay 2nds, at Immingham Blossom Way, by two wickets.
Rob Cowlam grabbed six for 30 as the visiting villagers were bowled out for 133 from the final ball of the last over of the innings, Paul Farmery and Tom Latimer both scoring 21.
Richard Woodward – batting at seven – then hit 56 for the Meggies, with Jim Birkwood taking three for 18 for Holton-le-Clay.
