A MOTHER-OF-THREE found herself lying in the road when she fell off a bus saving her baby.
Christy Allenby, 36, from Cleethorpes, was taking her children to school in St Peter's Avenue on the number 14 Stagecoach bus route when the incident occurred.
Travelling with her three youngsters, Chloe, 7, Floyd, 4, and five-week-old Lennon, Mrs Allenby claims at her stop, the bus wasn't close enough to the kerb, leaving a big gap to cross to reach the pavement.
As she disembarked, she pitched forward. Sensing the danger, she managed to push Lennon in his push chair, and Mrs Allenby ended up sprawled on the floor, with cuts on her knees and foot.
She said: "It was a mother's instinct. I pushed my baby back into the push chair and ended up in the gutter. I am sure the bus driver saw what happened.
"He did little help and just drove off, leaving my distraught children and I on the side of the road.
"It all happened so fast I was in shock and crying as I walked my children into school.
"The headmistress and staff there were so kind, offering me support when I needed it most.
"I saw the same bus driver again the next day and he didn't comment on my fall."
A spokesman for Stagecoach said: "We are sorry to hear of Ms Allenby's complaint, which was made directly to our Grimsby depot, and we are currently investigating the incident."
