A PILE of cars and vans is on fire at Metropes (Metals) Ltd on Grimsby's Estate Road No 3.
A number of explosions have been heard, and our reporter and photographer have been told that the smoke is potentially toxic.
Police have just issued a warning to people in premises close by to close windows and doors.
A staff member has been entering the fire using a CAT vehicle, removing items to reduce the pile, but has now been stopped for safety reasons.
Two fire crews are at the scene, and have contained the fire - which is producing 8m high flames and thick black smoke - to the compound.
