IT'S Guy Martin's final shot at glory at this year's Isle of Man TT today – and I'll be among those cheering our 'boy' on.

The motorcycle racer from Kirmington has risen to international prominence in recent years due to his huge popularity in the sport, and TV work.

But through all that, Martin continues to chase that elusive first victory at the prestigious road racing event.

And after 13 podium finishes on the island spanning nine years, no one could begrudge him his moment of glory this afternoon.

I visited the full-time lorry mechanic and Channel 4 star at his home three years ago – almost to the day – following his spectacular 170mph crash at the event.

After six days in hospital being treated for a broken spine, punctured lung and broken ribs, Martin's thirst for racing and that maiden TT triumph remained as strong as ever.

"The Ballagarey corner has claimed a lot of people and I've been told that I was only the third person to survive crashing at that corner in the last 20 years," he said at the time.

"I class it as being lucky. I'm not a big believer in God and all that but I just don't think they're ready for me yet.

"I've got a bit of unfinished business to get done on planet earth first.

"And part of that is to win a TT."

It hasn't been a great week for Martin so far, with bike problems keeping him off the podium, but this lunchtime's Senior TT could yet be his crowning glory.
