A MAN escaped from a first floor window following a fire in the early hours of this morning. A spokesman for Humberside Fire and Rescue said the fire broke out at 4.16am at a property in the Fairmont Road and Ladysmith Road area of Grimsby. The fire caused heat damage to the staircase, while the rest of the property was damaged by smoke. The man was given oxygen treatment at the scene, while a woman and child living in the neighbouring property were taken to Grimsby's Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital suffering from possible smoke inhalation. After extinguishing the fire, crews fitted a smoke detector to the property. Keep checking your Grimsby Telegraph for updates.
