KIRMINGTON motorcycle racer Guy Martin admits "a bit of fine-tuning" is needed if he is to break his duck at the Isle of Man TT this year.
The 31-year-old, in his ninth bid for glory at the most famous road racing event of them all, has endured a frustrating week so far.
Fourth place in Sunday's opening Dainese Superbike contest was followed yesterday by a sixth-place finish in the first Supersport race before he was forced to retire on the third lap of the Superstocks.
The man who has 13 podium finishes to his name has another shot at glory tomorrow in the second Supersport race before Friday and the blue riband event – the Senior TT showdown.
In the meantime, Northern Irishman Michael Dunlop has stormed to a hat-trick of victories, smashing lap and race-time records along the way.
Full-time lorry mechanic and part-time television star Martin believes his Tyco Suzuki GSX-R1000 needs some work if he is to have any chance of beating Dunlop this week and land his first ever victory on the island.
"I'm disappointed. Sunday was a bit of a fighting match," he said.
"Yes I did 130mph on that first lap but I've gone quicker than that on a Suzuki and although I had a few slides – those Metzeler tyres are really good.
"We need to do a bit of fine-tuning for the Senior. I'm fit enough for the job and the bike is strong enough, but my hands are covered in blisters after that. It really was a struggle."
