HAVE you got a Water Baby? If so, it's time for them to make a splash.
Georgina Holmes-Dickens, who runs Water Babies classes across Lincolnshire, is to launch the multi-award winning baby swimming lessons at Havelock Academy on May 26.
Water Babies is the world's largest baby swim school and the classes are designed to make the most of babies' natural affinity with water, teaching them confidence and safety, using specialist techniques that see many swimming short distances from as young as 30 months old.
Despite their gentle nature, Water Babies sessions also provide a complete physical workout. Studies have shown that participating babies have improved sleeping and eating patterns and flourish with the extra attention they receive – a definite bonus for new mums and dads.
Georgina first heard of Water Babies while pregnant with her son Max and took him to his first lesson at four months old.
They loved it so much that after their second lesson, Georgina started thinking about the possibility of becoming an instructor.
Three weeks later she had embarked on her first round of training and within six months of first dipping her toe in the water with Water Babies, she was a fully-fledged instructor teaching in Sheffield and Lincoln.
When second son George was born two years ago, she and husband Edward wasted no time in getting him into the water and he made his Water Babies debut at a mere three weeks old.
She said: "George wasn't as keen as Max initially, but I'm glad I persevered because by the end of his first term he'd really started to enjoy it.
"Now when we take the boys swimming at the weekends, people always comment on how confident they are – they're both true water babies."
Baby swimming lessons are a good form of gentle exercise for parents and tots and a great way for families to spend time together.
Georgina added: "I've loved every second of my Water Babies journey so far, and cannot wait to spread the magic across Grimsby.
"Havelock Academy is a great location with free parking, viewing area, large changing rooms and most importantly the pool is fab."
