THESE guys have got a tonne of kindness – have you?
Grimsby's Shoreline Housing staff have collected a staggering one tonne of food for our Ten Tonnes Of Tins Campaign.
Equating the weight of a small car, the housing association rallied to our call for donations for the Daily Bread Food Larder at Care, in Hainton Avenue, Grimsby.
The charity hands out food parcels to those in need.
Chair of the board at Shoreline Housing Karen Rastall said: "It is such a small thing we could all do to actually help make a difference in these really difficult times.
"The staff came together and got behind it.
"The nature of our organisation means we often work with some of the most vulnerable individuals in society. This campaign really resonated with us."
Despite their mammoth effort – and the scores of others taking part – there is still a long way to go before we hit our ten-tonne target.
That is why we are renewing our plea for people to give what they can to the campaign.
It might be a question of clearing out your cupboards, or cashing in your shopping vouchers.
Donating just one tin can make all the difference to a family in need.
All you have to do is request a Ten Tonnes Of Tins box from the Grimsby Telegraph reception, or bring in your food and we'll do the rest.
Chief executive of Shoreline Tony Bramley found it a rewarding experience.
He said: "Collecting a tonne was slightly ambitious, but now we have done it I see it as a great achievement.
"I would really encourage other businesses get involved. It doesn't take much effort, all you need is a few dozen people with goodwill."
General manager of Care Sarah Taylor was overwhelmed by Shoreline's efforts.
She added: "I would like to say a huge thank you to Kristina Parker and Ann Maggs who have been so involved in this. It is an amazing effort and I am delighted at the support they have shown us.
"This will really help us in meeting the current need."
