UKIP made sensational gains in Lincolnshire as the Conservatives lost overall control of the county council last night.
Fielding far more candidates than in the last elections four years ago, UKIP won seats in Louth Marsh and Mablethorpe in the Telegraph's circulation area, plus Skegness North, Skegness South, Tattershall Castle, Spilsby Fen, Boston Coastal, Boston Fishtoft, Boston West, Boston North West, Wainfleet and Burgh, Spalding East and Moulton, Lincoln Hartsholme, Gainsborough Hill and Spalding South.
Amid their victories was arguably the shock of election night, as the Tories' deputy leader Eddy Poll was defeated by Richard Fairman in Spalding East and Moulton.
There will now some political bargaining as the council will be ruled by a coalition.
