THE countdown has begun for a superhero who is taking a 15,000ft plunge in aid of St Andrew's Children's Hospice.
Spiderman – alias Michael Bryant, the principal funeral director at Kettle Funeral Directors – has made the biggest decision of his life to take part in the fundraising event.
Not that the 15,000ft skydive was the tough decision ... his leap in anxiety was the decision what to wear for the charity event.
Colleagues were keen he should wear a Wonderwoman outfit, but the 48-year-old said he was prepared to wear anything if it helped attract sponsors for the skydive at Hibalstow on May 19. So he has opted for a Spiderman disguise, and is making the leap because he regularly sees the amount of care given to children and their families at the hospice.
"We do a lot of work for the hospice and support them throughout the year with an Easter egg raffle and quizzes and make donations at Christmas," he said.
The daredevil director has already abseiled down Grimsby Dock Tower, and he bravely completed a bungee jump for charity 15 years ago.
Michael said: "But it is the first time I have ever done a skydive. I hope to raise as much money as possible."
The jump from the Hibalstow airfield is the highest skydive in the UK.
Anyone wishing to support him can contact Kettles on 01472 355395 or send donations to Kettle Funeral Directors, 135 Granville Street, Grimsby. Donations by cheque need to be payable to St Andrew's Children's Hospice.
