Laceby hotel's renovation costs reach almost £1m as function suite is refurbished

THE refurbishment of a function suite at Laceby's Oaklands Hall Hotel takes the total spent renovating the venue to almost £1 million.

The Laceby Suite – which is self-contained with its own entrance and gardens – has been given a new lease of life thanks to a £250,000 makeover.

The improvements include installing a new bar, dance floor and state-of-the-art lighting system, as well as redecorating in stylish, neutral hues.

General manager Richard Matthews said: "The Laceby Suite was really outdated, but it looks absolutely fantastic now.

"It's so impressive that we held a wedding fair in there and got ten bookings in one day.

"The great thing about it is that it can accommodate any group, from an intimate family party for 40 people up to 140 for weddings and corporate events.

"And because the suite is housed in an extension to the original building, it means that it can be decorated in a really modern way that wouldn't be in keeping with the main hotel."

It is the latest in a long line of improvements made to the hotel since it was taken over by new owners, Nigel and Sarah Underwood and John and Caroline Lawson, last May.

As well as making over three reception suites, the owners have begun a programme of bedroom refurbishment and created the award-winning Comfy Duck bistro.

Deputy general manager Scott Dunn added: "We are very lucky the owners have such a strong vision for the hotel and are making it so easy for everybody to get excited about the improvements being made here."

The five-year plan will see the bedroom refurbishment completed, two new bridal suites and the possible introduction of log cabins and leisure facilities.
