AFTER a remarkable season, Nats have been crowned as Section A champions in the Roy Ling Mutual Grimsby Snooker Doubles League.

They snatched the title from under the noses of rivals Dads & Lads by virtue of a count-back.

With both teams finishing level on points, the four results between them this season showed that Nats had won 14 frames with the Dads taking a total of 10.

Both sets of players should feel very proud, especially the young lads from Cue World – Alfie East, Taylor Dowling, Mathew Lawton and Lewis Sewell, who have been a credit to the league this campaign.

This week, both teams won 6-0, with Nats triumphing over Cromwell thanks to Terry Blanchard, Ryan Johnstone, Dan Hargrave, Steve Drinkell, Nige Emmerson and Dave Elshaw, who won all the frames.

Meanwhile, Pete East, Sewell, Martin and Taylor Dowling and Jase and Mathew Lawton did the same for Dads & Lads against Standard A.

Third-in-the-table West End B bowed out with a defeat after going down 4-2 at Clee Bowls B.

Dave Walton and Dave Cox did the main damage for the Bowlers as they won the vital 2-0, while Janett Newell, Mick Parker, Ralph Dale and Mike Barrett shared the rest of the frames with Walt Simpson, Barry Jebson, Mike Needham and Dave Sargent.

Healing Mens claimed a 5-1 victory against a two-man Blossom Way when Dean Austwick and Dave Leen shared the only frames played with Brad Mowforth and Aimee Benison.

Clee Cons B finished their season off as Champions of the Premier Section with a 4-2 victory at Healing Legion B.

Steve Donner and Mike Bridge were their 2-0 winners with Lewis Singleton, Nathan Crooks, Jon Steel and Lee Pawson sharing with Drew Winship, Gary Wright, Matt Cheeseman and Dave Lainchbury.

Taking the runners' up spot are Linden Homes B who drew 3-3 at Hainton B.

They started brightly when Gaz Horsfall and Daz Evans won the first two frames, only to see George Clark and Keith Atmore level for the home team.

That was before the final pairings of Dave Tanner and Mick Dobson shared with Chris Madsen and Jon Leggett.

Taylor Made Carpets went out with a bang as they thrashed New Street Lads 5-1 in the market place.

Craig Taylor, Keith Tomlinson, inset, Fred Parker and Mark Stevens were their 2-0 winners with Ian Sadler and Keith Southwell sharing with slam-savers Paul Rushby and Dan Mumby.

Clee Cons A should be very proud of their achievements this season as they have gone from the whipping boys to a creditable fourth place in the table.

This week, they put five past Healing Legion A when Jim Yates, Wayne Tucker, Mick Goodwin and Damon Gresham all won 2-0 before Rob Willerton and Craig Thomas shared the last two frames with Bernard Mooney and Nigel Barr, who prevented the whitewash.

Linden Homes A drew three-all with Hainton A when John Baker, Chris Brown, John and Peter Dannatt, Daz Braithwaite and Mel Pratt shared all the frames with Aaron McHugh, Dan Frosdick, George Bartlett, Tony Lamberton, Rob Broughton and Luke Majors.

Teams that wish to enter the Closed Doubles knock-out competition, contact Jim Litchfield by Saturday at the latest.
