A PUB landlord is calling for the help of neighbouring businesses to trace vandals who shattered pub windows.
Lee Howell, of The Duke Of Wellington, estimated the cost of the criminal damage at more than £2,000.
Bricks were thrown at three windows of the popular Pasture Street pub. One of the windows shattered and the brick landed in the bar, and two other windows were broken.
Mr Howell hopes CCTV cameras attached to businesses or properties along Pasture Street will identify the vandals, who struck at about 12.30am yesterday.
The half-inch thick panes feature engravings of the original design of the former Hewitt's Brewery. The landlord said: "I don't understand because we have not fallen out with anybody, so we don't think it is a grudge.
"We do not have any trouble here ever. It must just be random vandalism.
"It would be good to know if there was any other business affected.
"It is a pity. There was glass everywhere. They really must have meant to do it because there was a lot of force used to lob the bricks through the window. They are half an inch thick.
"I am really upset by it. I have just put up the hanging baskets to make the place look nice for the customers and visitors to the area and then someone does something like this. I still can't believe it."
He urged anyone with information or CCTV footage for around that time to get in contact with Humberside Police.
Barman Haydn Rawlings, 50, of Granville Street, Grimsby, said: "At first you think it is some kind of a vendetta. But the staff get on with everyone.
"It has taken a long time to carry it out because they used several bricks. One went all the way through and there were three outside. It is not just a hit and run. It is malicious."
Regular Eva Shaw, 64, said: "I think it is disgusting. The staff are trying to make it look nice. It is shocking because it is not just one window it is three."
The three windows targeted are the ones closest to the railway crossing.
A Humberside Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called following criminal damage which happened at the Duke of Wellington public house, Pasture Street, Grimsby.
"This happened between shortly after midnight and 8am yesterday when it was discovered."
