FIVE people have died following what is thought to have been a head-on collision on the A18 near Laceby Manor Golf Club.
The police have confirmed the deaths in the last 20 minutes, in a media conference at the scene of the tragedy.
The family are from Durham, officers said.
Three of the family members were pronounced dead at the scene, and two were pronounced dead on arrival at Grimsby's Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital.
They were all in a Nissan Primera, which was in collision with a light goods vehicle, owned by a Scunthorpe firm, at about 12.30pm today.
The driver of the LGV suffered slight injuries.
The road is currently closed in both directions between Laceby Crossroads in Grimsby and the B1203 Ashby Hill junction in East Ravendale.
Five ambulances and three fire engines attended the scene.
