WITH five matches to go in their Division One campaign, Grimsby Borough's joint manager Nigel Fanthorpe has encouraged his men to stick with Plan A.
The Northern Counties East League (NCEL) outfit – who are also led by Steve Newby – host Selby Town at Bradley Community Stadium tomorrow (3pm).
That fixture comes after an impressive sequence for Borough, who have held Pontefract and high-flying Athersley Recreation in their last two games.
Now faced with a different proposition – a home fixture against a team two places lower in the standings – the Boro boys 'must avoid complacency'.
Fanthorpe told the Telegraph: "Selby are a good side. They are in a false position of late, because they have brought in a lot of new players during the season.
"We won at their place quite comfortably, but they have only lost once in about nine games. It was looking like they were going to get relegated, but they are a very good side now.
"When we have a full squad out, we can beat anybody. We are looking forward to the Selby game, but it will be another test for us – if we aren't right, they'll beat us.
"We can't let complacency set in. We have to have that same commitment and desire. That's what we are looking at showing again tomorrow."
Fresh from their midweek point at home to second-place Athersley, Fanthorpe and Newby can call upon a full-strength team for the visit of Selby.
Shaping up in a 4-3-3 formation, Borough started brightly against the promotion chasers – with the pace of Andrew Taylor, pictured, and Luke Fanthorpe causing all sorts of problems.
And after just 20 minutes, they took the lead when Athersley skipper Ryan White turned the ball into his own net.
White atoned for his error 18 minutes later, evading two Grimsby challenges before firing the ball home from 20 yards.
Borough continued to press, and assumed control for the much of the game – Fanthorpe and George Newby both had second half chances to take the points, but in the end had to settle for a draw.
Now hoping to finish the season on a high note, co-boss Fanthorpe has called on fans to get down and support his boys.
He added: "Hopefully we can get a few more faces through the gate with Grimsby Town not playing.
"I've heard lots of positive comments about this league. People who come and watch us and Clee Town have been impressed with the level of football, and the excitement."
Fans wanting to attend the game at Bradley can pay on the day. Tickets cost £4 each, or £2 concessions.
