JOIN the fun and sign up your team to the Grimsby Junior Futsal League.
Leagues are established for ages 13-17, which are well supported (30+ teams) – with the 13-14 year-old teams in their third year of competition.
With Under-12 (Year 6-7) teams wanting to play competitive futsal, now is the perfect time to introduce a new league for this younger age-group.
Leagues are affiliated to the Lincolnshire Football Association; while teams are not individually affiliated via the league, as they are for full-sided and mini soccer.
Futsal is a five-a-side game, with teams usually including seven players, and rolling subs.
The benefits of this new league include:
• Low cost, £2 per player match fee
• No goal posts and nets to put up
• Match referee supplied
• Flat surfaces (not played on grass)
• Low bounce futsal ball supplied
• Affiliation to LFA included
• FA National Junior Futsal Tournament competed for annually
Futsal has career options – local player Ben Mortlock has travelled the world playing futsal for England, while Gavin Sartain has become a Level 2 FIFA futsal referee.
Grimsby Town offers a two-year Futsal BTEC course, which fuses education and sport education, teaching the futsal player to coach and referee futsal while competing futsal in a National League against similar clubs' BTEC courses.

Futsal is the format of small-sided football that is recognised and supported by FIFA and UEFA with World and European Championships for club and national teams.
It is a five a-side game played with hockey-sized goals and a smaller ball, with reduced bounce.
As a small-sided game, players are constantly placed in situations where they must receive or play whilst under pressure, or in confined spaces. It places considerable demand on technique, movement, tactical awareness and fitness.
