WHAT an economic catastrophe we now find ourselves in, from being a vibrant prosperous trading nation, the envy of the world, we have become laden with debt almost to the point of bankruptcy.
Manufacturing has been cast aside and made uncompetitive, mainly through incompetent management and high-level decisions taken by people unqualified and without the vision necessary to safeguard the inherent culture of invention and manufacture.
Putting almost all the eggs into manipulating other people's money has proved to be an economic disaster not only in terms of finance but in the more important social costs to the majority of the population, who are expected to bear the burden of payment for the mismanagement of the country. Who is to blame?
Well, we all should know where the blame lies. Too many of them have been and are in positions way above their ability. Not only have they been incompetent with home affairs, the concessions made to Europe have achieved subservience unthinkable to our ancestors and most of the present population, according to the polls.
The way forward seems to be evermore debt if we are to continue to pretend that we can afford to bankroll Europe, give donations to rich countries, engage in costly world policing and play alongside the big boys of the world.
As most would agree, charity begins at home. The days of empire are long gone, time to face reality for the Establishment.
Common sense must prevail, we simply cannot continue to allow money to flow unchecked to provide profits or welfare needs across the world.
Our priorities lie at home first and foremost for the benefit and welfare of the many not the few. Why do we keep electing the same people? Are they to blame or perhaps are we guilty by aiding and abetting?

The situation we find ourselves in did not happen overnight – is it not the failure of successive "leaders" over very many years?
