Dozens of homes have been hit by flooding in Grimsby. Thankfully, though, the scenario, this time, is a fictional one and the subject of news reports being tackled by pupils at Springfield Primary School, Scartho. And to help them with their news writing, Grimsby Telegraph deputy editor Michelle Hurst dropped into the school to show them how the newspaper's reporting team go about writing news articles. The mixed Year 3/4 class of pupils, aged 7 to 9, discussed how reporters carry out research and interviews, and the types of questions that they will be asking when they tackle their fictional flooding stories. They then asked a string of questions relating to news and newspapers. "I was really impressed with how knowledgeable they were, telling me what 'quotes' were in news stories and 'deadlines'," said Michelle. "They will be able to write some very interesting articles about the fictional flooding ... and you never know, you may be seeing their names in bylines in articles in the future."
