A SUPERVISOR at a Cleethorpes bar crashed his car in to the front of Ramsdens while drink-driving, a court heard.
Mark Ward, a key member of the team at the Bar Babylon, was driving a car which "flicked" and "rolled" before smashing in to the front of the shop in the early hours of February 8.
Ward, 27, admitted driving while unfit through drink and with the wrong class of licence on February 8.
Nick Wyman, prosecuting, told Grimsby magistrates that Ward suddenly lost control of his car.
It swerved towards the middle of the road, hit the central reservation and pedestrian island before ending up in the shop front of Ramsdens on the opposite side of the road.
Ward's eyes were glazed, his speech was slurred and he was unsteady on his feet.
He gave a roadside breath test of 114mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg.
Gary Bulbeck, mitigating, said Ward lived in a room at the Bar Babylon when he was working there.
He had drunk three pints of lager after his shift. He drove to buy cigarettes and was on his way back when the steering wheel of his car locked and he completely lost control.
Ward had been a soldier for nine years and had served in Afghanistan, Kenya, Northern Ireland and Mexico before being discharged on medical grounds in December 2010.
Ward, who lives in Lincoln, was fined £400, banned from driving for two years and was ordered to pay £85 costs and a Government-imposed £40 victims' surcharge.
The court heard that the licensing authorities would be told of the conviction."
