Grimsby Town bosses have faith in striker Ross Hannah

ROSS Hannah has been "trying too hard" to impress since his return to Grimsby Town on a permanent basis, according to his managers. The striker was a revelation for the Mariners during his three-month loan spell before Christmas – scoring nine goals and firing Town to Conference summit before returning to parent club Bradford City. After almost three weeks of negotiations, the 26-year-old was back at Blundell Park for a reported fee of more than £50,000. But, after missing a penalty at Welling on his 'second' Town debut, the Sheffield-born frontman is yet to get on the scoresheet and dropped to the bench for five successive matches. Hannah returned to the starting line-up for Tuesday night's victory over Ebbsfleet United, and joint boss Rob Scott believes he is getting back to his best. He said: "We've had a chat with him since he's been back and he has openly admitted that he's been trying a bit too hard. "But, in the last week to ten days, he has looked a different player. Since we've had that chat with him the weight has been lifted a little bit."
