A £14.5 million scheme to improve flood defences in Grimsby has been approved by the Government.Today, the Environment Secretary, Owen Patterson, has announced the Environment Agency has committed to carrying out the improvements to around 3,5000 metres of the sea defences at the docks.Mr Patterson said the Grimsby Docks Flood Defence Scheme – which will be developed in partnership with Associated British Ports (ABP) and North East Lincolnshire Council – will reduce the risk of flooding to 14,000 properties.See tomorrow's Grimsby Telegraph for full details.
