Following a number of recent calls from people living in the Ingoldmells area regarding an unpleasant odour in the air, East Lindsey District Council is asking local people to log their complaints so the matter can be formally investigated.
Over the past few years, it is understood that local people have been providing information on the odour to Anglian Water, as it is believed to be emitting from the water treatment works in the area.
However, East Lindsey District Council, as the Authority responsible for odour control, is keen to investigate the issue and help the community to find a way forward. The District Council is asking local people to register their complaints by calling 01507 601111 or e-mailing environmental.protection@e-lindsey.gov.uk
Once the complaint has been registered, the complainant is required to keep a diary of when the smell occurs and to call the council at that point.
The Environment Team Leader at the council, Anneliese Johnson, said: "We know that local people have been keeping diaries for some time in relation to this issue and sending them to Anglian Water.
"However, it's the district council that needs this information first hand so a formal investigation can take place, allowing actions to be agreed to resolve the issue if a problem is found.
"We are keen to hear from anyone who thinks the odour is having a detrimental affect on the local area and their quality of life."
