GRIMSBY Town are almost half way through their season and joint boss Paul Hurst hasn't yet seen anyone for the Mariners to fear.
Saturday's 2-0 win over Tamworth moved Town back to the top of the Blue Square Bet Premier by one point.
Their next league game, against Wrexham at home a week on Friday, will be Town's 23rd this season – the exact midway point of their league campaign.
And after having played nearly all of their rivals at least once in that time, Hurst believes there is no reason why the Mariners should not be still up there come the end of the season.
He said: "It's pleasing to get back on top because it meant that teams around us have dropped points.
"Newport lost at Kidderminster, who are absolutely flying at the minute and are going to put themselves into contention if they keep up that form.
"Forest Green and Macclesfield also drew which was a good result for us but we can't worry too much about the other teams, we've just got to concentrate on our ourselves and that's what we did on Saturday.
"If you cut the season down into sections, we're a game away from playing half our league games and being top going into that game is a great position for us to be in.
"We're giving ourselves a chance and, yes we are up there, but we are up there on merit and I think we're good enough to be in those spots.
"I've seen some good teams so far, but I haven't seen anyone who I look at and say – they're a lot better than us.
Hurst added: "People have spoken about going into January and seeing where you are. You saw last year how far we progressed up the league last year when we put that run together, but being top or near the top at this stage is a great foundation for us to build on."
Next up, the Mariners welcome Havant & Waterlooville in the Second Round of the FA Trophy on Saturday, before a crunch clash with fellow promotion favourites Wrexham the following Friday evening.
Hurst said: "Winning on Saturday and going top before the Trophy game next weekend is nice because it means that we're not waiting for the next league game to come round on the back of defeat.
"The Wrexham game is a big one, we know that, but nothing will be decided on that night – it won't be panic time if it doesn't go the way that we want. It will be a good test – for the last three seasons they've been up there, but after Saturday's result and going top, we'll be going into it in high spirits.
