TWO men have been taken to hospital after a dramatic rescue at Grimsby's Riverhead. A man in his 40s jumped into the dock near to The Barge public house. Minutes later a member of the public leapt in to rescue him and he was hauled to safety by passers-by. Emergency services were concerned another member of the public may have also ended up in the water in the drama at around 1pm. The Humberside Fire and Rescue Service dingy was deployed to the scene, but was not used. Three fire engines, an ambulance and four police cars are currently at the scene.
A police spokesperson said: "Police are currently in attendance at an incident on the Riverhead in Grimsby where there is concern for the safety of a man believed to have entered the water.
"The emergency services have located a man in the water and with assistance from the public have returned him to a place of safety.
"He is being treated by paramedics and is to be transported to hospital."
