PLANS for a new multi-million pound swimming pool in Grimsby are forging ahead.
At a special meeting of North East Lincolnshire Council's tourism and culture scrutiny panel this morning, members voted to approve proposals for a new pool on the site of Grimsby Leisure Centre, in Cromwell Road.
If the panel's recommendations are rubber-stamped by the cabinet next month, it will signal the end of residents' on-going battle to save Scartho Baths from demolition.
As reported, the council plans to demolish Scartho Baths and replace it with the new £8.4-million facility at Cromwell Road – much to the disgust of thousands of users who have been campaigning to save it.
