PAUL Hurst hopes to have at least one new face on board as Grimsby Town bid to extend their unbeaten away run at Eastleigh tomorrow night (7.45pm).

Saturday's hard-fought victory at Nuneaton means that Hurst's side have now not lost on the road in the league since September.

Second-half goals from Jon-Paul Pittman and substitute Ross Hannah were enough for the Mariners to claim all three points and, in doing so, open up a gap on Kidderminster, who lost at Chester.

Media outlets in Wales continue to credit Town with an interest in former Newport winger Christian Jolley, who is a free agent following his departure from Rodney Parade.

But while Hurst wasn't prepared to talk specifics after Saturday's victory in Warwickshire, he did admit he was hopeful of having at least one new recruit on board for the long trip to the south coast.

"We'll see," he said. "If we can get someone in, why not? I'm hopeful rather than confident we will have someone in ahead of Eastleigh."

When pressed, Hurst said that the deal for an unnamed League Two player, which he thought was close to completion two weeks ago, is still on the table.

"It's not entirely dead. It's certainly dragged on and the situation may have changed with that one, but I haven't had an answer as yet," he added.

After facing league leaders Barnet and then Gateshead, in the FA Trophy, in quick succession, Hurst felt Saturday's victory over Boro was a 'great response' from his side.

"It was a great result off the back of the Gateshead game, when the lads put in a hell of a shift, so to get the three points was big credit to them," he continued.

"The Eastleigh game is no bigger than Saturday at Nuneaton. For me, we've now got 16 huge games left and we've got to be up for every single one.

"Our away form is very, very good with another win chalked up for us on Saturday.

"It's now about trying to stay unbeaten and hopefully pick up another victory."
