A WOMAN who was so overweight that she couldn't even do up her sandals is celebrating after losing a whopping six stone. Terri-Anne Westerman, 34, of Wellington Street, Grimsby, could not even bend down enough to do her sandals up – and admits she felt "disgusting". She had to ask her husband to do her sandals up for her – but it's a different story now. She and other star slimmers are celebrating losing huge amounts of weight – and transforming their lives with the help of Grimsby WeightWatchers Centre, which is marking its first birthday. The group was officially launched in January last year but now attracts about 300 people a week to its meetings. About 640 new members joined meetings of the local group at the Carr Lane Social Club, Grimsby, during last year. Mother-of-five Terri-Anne said: "I could not do my own sandals up. I could not bend down to do them up. "It made me feel disgusting. I used to get out of breath going up the stairs. "I could not even do the sandals up sitting on the bed. My husband had to do them up. "I couldn't bend down because I was too fat." She has slimmed down from 16st 7lb to 10st 7lb. The WeightWatchers sessions are run by leader Denise Markham, of Scartho, assisted by Debbie Elder, of South Killingholme. Denise said of the star slimmers: "It's amazing. We are very proud of them. It's an amazing job they have done. "I feel I am lucky to have been a part of changing everybody's lives." Debbie said the opening of the Grimsby centre was part of an innovation for WeightWatchers last year. "We launched centres around the UK to give people more choice but in the same venue," she said.
